Doug Jackson: An Impressionist’s Exhibition at The Art Studio, Inc.

The Art Studio, Inc. (TASI) will host an exhibition of artwork by Doug Jackson during the month of October. TASI will hold a reception for the exhibition in its Main Gallery on Saturday, October 5th from 7-10 pm, which is free and open to the public. The exhibition is titled “An Impressionist’s Journey” and will be on display from October 5 to October 26, 2024.

Doug Jackson was born in 1953 with Cerebral Palsy and is unable to use his hands or legs– despite this, he discovered a passion for art at age 11 after watching his brother painting at an easel. His brother attached a paintbrush to the end of Jackson’s headband stylus and from then on, Jackson used this method to create his art.

Influenced by Van Gogh, Monet, and the impressionist movement, Jackson also uses photos and his own travels to inspire his creations. He has garnered a notable reputation in the Southeast Texas arts community, having presented paintings to Jimmy Durante and Bob Hope on behalf of Hughen School for the Disabled Children in Port Arthur, Texas as well as exhibiting in shows at the Texas Artist Museum in Port Arthur, Texas, the Museum of the Gulf Coast, and at the Art League in Beaumont
