Texas Energy Museum presents Blowout 2026
The Texas Energy Museum’s Blowout is a major annual fundraising event held to support the museum’s educational mission. It typically features dinner, with a keynote speaker, and opportunities for networking with community and industry leaders. Past speakers have included George Bush, Laura Bush, Andrew Card, Ben Carson, Trey Gowdy, Robert Mueller, Colin Powell, Karl Rove, Margaret Thatcher and George Will.
This year’s keynote speaker is Alex Epstein, author of New York Times Best-Selling Book, The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels.
He is a philosopher and energy expert who argues that “human flourishing” should be the guiding principle of energy and environmental progress. He is the author of the new bestselling book Fossil Future: Why Global Human Flourishing Requires More Oil, Coal, and Natural Gas—Not Less. He is also the creator of EnergyTalkingPoints.com — a source of powerful, well-referenced talking points on energy, environmental, and climate issues.
Widely recognized as a master of persuasion and debate on energy issues, Alex has spoken at dozens of Fortune 500 companies and dozens of prominent universities, including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Duke (his alma mater). He is also a highly sought-after consultant on messaging, working with dozens of major political offices on pro-energy, pro-freedom messaging.
The Blowout is an important source of funding for the museum’s exhibitions and programs, which educate the public about the history and science of Texas oil.
